ReplyDeleteI am 100% supportive of the 4th grader's essay and the article on marriage equality. I think it is important to speak out about marriage equality, especially because of the hate and discrimination same-sex couples often face. I feel it is even more critical for the younger generation to speak out about marriage equality because they are the ones who can truly make a change for society in the future. Same-sex couples should be treated the same as heterosexual couples because who we love does not and should not define who we are as people. I believe society has come a long way in terms of accepting same-sex couples, but I still think more people need to be more open-minded and tolerable of others.

DeleteMy strong opinion on this topic, which I stated above, is simply because the kid believes in the same thing I do. I agree with the kid's essay and think he should be praised for it because he is in my in-group. We both feel passionately about marriage equality, so I obviously support him since he is in my in-group.

ReplyDeleteI am supportive of the article because you cannot control your feelings, and you can’t help who you love. I believe that if you love someone and you want to build a life with them, then you should have the right to do so. In the essay the boy says, “It doesn’t matter and we should be happy for them,” and I couldn’t agree more. If two people want to be together, I don’t see any reason why they shouldn’t be able to be together. If same-sex couples want to get married, it should be viewed the same as any other wedding. Weddings are to celebrate a happy time for two people, and if people disagree, they do not need to be a part of it because it is not their life.
